Keis heated jackets - How do they work?

Over the years, our Keis long-sleeved heated jackets have become the benchmark for motorized outdoor activities: motorcycle, quad, SSV, snowmobile. The description below covers models J501RP, J505RP and the new J601RP jacket. All important steps are illustrated in video.

HEATING SYSTEM

This is the heart of the Keis system, often copied but never equaled. Developed and improved since 2007, our heat generation and transmission technology provides extreme comfort and reliability.

Heat is generated by large heating panels distributed throughout the garment. The back, torso, sleeves and collar are heated, ensuring even heat distribution over the entire body.

What's more, thanks to the use of carbon micro-fiber, an excellent heat conductor, the heat produced by the multiple heating panels spreads throughout the garment's fibers: the sensation of warmth is intense, providing the body with the calories it needs to resist the cold. As a result, the body's vital functions are kept perfectly warm, and the blood sent to the limbs is also warmed, contributing to an overall sensation of warmth and well-being.

USE

Our Keis heated jackets are worn under a motorcycle jacket or over a light first layer such as a t-shirt or undershirt. They replace all intermediate warm layers such as sweaters. As a result, the body is no longer cramped and blood circulates freely, further enhancing heat distribution. The jacket's outer fabric is windproof, while wicking away perspiration and moisture.

TEMPERATURE CONTROLLER

Each jacket comes with a heat controller. It regulates heating power on three different levels, for perfect comfort at all times. The heat controller connects to the jacket's outer left ventral pocket in the slot provided.

The J501RP and J601RP jackets are supplied with the classic temperature controller, available here as a spare part. A long press on the central button switches the jacket on. A short press changes the heating level. Another long press turns the jacket off.

The J505RP jacket is supplied with a Bluetooth temperature controller, available here as a spare part. It features the same functions as the classic temperature controller, plus additional Bluetooth functions.

By downloading our free Keis iControl mobile App, you can connect the Bluetooth controller to your smartphone. This allows you to regulate jacket temperature directly on your smartphone, while leaving the controller in your pocket.

POWER SUPPLY

Every Keis heated product comes with a battery connection cable. This is the easiest and safest way to power your heated jacket, gloves or tights. The cable simply plugs into the motorcycle battery. The other end of the cable should protrude in front of the rider, between the saddle and the fuel tank. The battery connection cable is available here as a spare part.

Another possible connection to the motorcycle is the cigarette-lighter cable (visible in the video above from 1:29). It is not supplied and is only available as an option. Please note: most cigarette-lighter sockets in the cockpit don't have enough power to supply the jacket. Check with your dealer for the power and amperage of your motorcycle's cigarette-lighter socket (minimum 70W and 8A).

We recommend using the supplied battery connection cable. It's easy to install and perfectly safe.

Other connection cables (SAE, KET standards) are available in the Accessories section.

CONNECTIONS

Each jacket has built-in connectors for other Keis heated garments. By connecting another Keis garment to the jacket, it will be supplied with power automatically, and all you have to do is manage the power supply to the jacket.

On the left hip, a socket is ready to receive either the cable from the heated tights, or the cable that runs down to the heated insoles.

For gloves, connection cables are integrated into the jacket sleeves, making connection a breeze.
